DCG17X360P 17″ Xbox 360 Laptop
This 17″ model has a hand cut and shaped aluminum case. The shell is covered with a carbon fiber vinyl finish.
It uses a negative air pressure cooling system that is designed to allow the heat sink to cool the CGPU without a fan attached. This is crucial for sliming the system. Two fans force air out of the case, which is sealed, to control air intake forcing incoming air over the heat sink. As a result, I was able to design a case that once the monitor is attached, has an overall height of less than 2″. I was also able to cut some Weight from this unit making even lighter than its 15″ predecessor at just over 8 lbs. Its dimensions are 14 3/4″ wide by 10 3/4″ deep by 1.985″ thick. I know it is cutting it close but it is still less than 2″.
I am trying for a very clean design with the look of a factory made product. All controls are mounted on the front of the unit with a six button handmade key pad with a headphone jack. The top plate has only one vent, the ring of light and very small speaker holes.
I took a different approach to the inside of the build, while still modifying the motherboard as little as possible I thought it more practical to keep, as much of the original xbox slim’s functionality as possible. Using this approach, I was able to all make this Xbox laptop with all the same ports as a stock Xbox slim with the exception of only having access to two usb ports and no IR remote input. Every other stock port is available including Kenict. The AV header is unchanged allowing it to function exactly the same way as the stock Xbox slim.
DCG15X360P 15″ XBOX 360 Laptop
My design was created with aesthetics in mind as well as practicality. I set out to build a portable Xbox 360 that was smaller and liter then any before it and that had the look of a factory built product. My overriding thoughts during the build were “keep it simple, keep it small, and make it look good”. And the DCG15X360P was the result.
The DCG15X360P is 2 ½” thick by 14 ¼” wide by 9 ¾” deep. It is the first Xbox portable that is small enough to be concerted truly portable. Please note that it does not have a battery, it must be plugged in to work.
As explained in the videos I made no changes to the stock Motherboard, HDD, DVD drive, or power brick of the Xbox slim. The reason behind that was I wanted it to be easy to repair; IE no soldering on the motherboard. What that means is anyone that can use a screwdriver and is able to unplug and plug back in headers and usb connectors can repair it.
